2009 Update

After receiving my DONA certification, it has been my privilege to assist many mothers, both first time and seasoned veterans, with a birthing experience that is focused on meeting their individual needs.
I have found that many new mothers are particularly concerned about the ability to be able to successfully breastfeed. As a Doula and Certified Lactation Counciler, my goal is to help the Mother/Baby dyad accomplish the initial latch within the first 30-60 minutes after birth.

I have especially enjoyed helping expectant mothers from Purdue University achieve as natural a childbirth experience as possible, this past year.
Students and staff at Purdue who desire an attempt at natural childbirth with the aid of a Doula will be given a 50% discount during the academic year of 2009, if you mention my blog when calling or e-mailing for a consultation.

I look forward to hearing from you!
Stay happy and healthy,
Barb

Welcome to Doula Support by Serenity Birthcare!

It would be my pleasure to serve you, during the most joyful event of your lifetime!

What is a Doula?

  • A Doula supports women and their families so the achieve the birth that they desire.
  • Doulas work in homes, hospitals and birth centers.
  • A Doula provides physical comfort, emotional support and information to families before, during and after childbirth.
  • A Doula does not replace the partner's role in childbirth. She supports the partner to love and encourage the laboring mother.
  • A Doula supports the mother's decision and does not force her own viewpoint.
